How to Survive the Desert Heat

Hi all! I know it's only March, but the summer heat is just around the corner (especially in Dubai! Ugh!) and it's always best to be prepared for the heat. Here's what to do if you get caught in the heat:

1. Stick a bag full of ice cubes in your underwear. Yes, it'll be a bit uncomfortable but you'll stay very cool!

2. Throw out or eat all of the food in your refrigerator. Then, take out the shelves and climb in. It's like air conditioning, times ten!

3. Go to the nearest ice rink, and just lie down in the middle of it (most people hang out near the sides anyways). Bonus points for going in your swimsuit!

4. Find a large bucket of ice cream, and sit in it. Just, sit in it. (Please don't eat it afterwards!)

5. Stick your head in a basin full of shaved ice. This also works as a great facial! (Not really.)

6. Find all the packs of frozen meat, limbs, and ice cream that you can, and replace your mattress with them. It's like sleeping in the arctic!

7. Sneak into an ice cream parlor after hours, and stick your hands and feet into the buckets of ice cream. That'll keep your digits looking icy blue!

Until next time,

What I've Learned from Softball

Hi all! Here are the top five things I've learned from my first season in playing softball.

1. You will get hit by the ball. Numerous times. Maybe even in the face! It'll hurt, and while having bruises the size of a softball isn't fun, you'll survive. Probably. :P

2. Keep your eye on the ball! At all times! It doesn't matter if you are batting or catching, if you keep your eye on the ball you won't miss, I promise.

3. Swing with violence. (As long as you can keep your eye on the ball...) it's the surefire way to hit the ball hard. Just think of something that really ticks you off, and GET MEAN!

4. Don't be afraid of the ball. It's difficult, I know, but try not to be scared of the ball. This usually comes from practice, and being hit at least 25 times by the ball.

5. Love your teammates. There's no "I" in "team" (but there is in "win"! Haha!), so just stick with your teammates. United we stand, and divided we fall.

Until next time,
